Orientino Duo
Orientino Duo

ORIENTINO DUO is a piano, percussion, and vocal ensemble uniting musical traditions from Latin America and the Middle East. Their collaboration centers on a repertoire that bridges these cultures through rhythm, song, and improvisation. The duo features Chilean-Swedish concert pianist and singer Tania Naranjo and Syrian-Swedish darbuka player and vocalist Bader Debs. Their program includes interpretations of repertoire associated with Fairuz, Abdel Halim Hafez, Violeta Parra, Mercedes Sosa, and Tom Jobim, alongside original compositions.
With piano, voice, darbuka, riq, and daf, their arrangements weave Arabic rhythmic structures and maqam-inspired elements together with Latin American harmonic language. Orientino Duo made their debut in October 2024 at the Malmö Folk Festival, where they were warmly received by both audiences and organisers. In 2025, they appeared at several festivals across Sweden, including the Stockholm Culture Festival, with performances continuing into 2026. Orientino has also presented concerts in Egypt, including appearances at the renowned Oud House in Cairo, the Cairo Jazz Club and in El Gouna.
